Local 230’s next General Membership Meeting will be Friday, December 13th, 2024 at 7PM.
Santee Weld Shop Schedule is as follows:
Tuesday through Friday: 7 AM to 8 PM
Saturdays: 7 am to 3 PM
CLOSED Sundays, Mondays, and Holiday Weekends
TESTING WILL BE HELD:
Wednesdays: 11 AM to 8 PM, and the
3rd Saturday of the month: 7 AM to 3 PM

(DRIVERS LICENSE, SOCIAL SECURITY CARD, AND/OR PASSPORT) TO RECEIVE A DISPATCH.
***Please be advised all Journeymen are required to complete their 16 hours of Journeymen Upgrade Training for the 2023-2024 calendar year by August 31st 2024. If you do not complete your JUT training by then, you will not be eligible for dispatch.***

DISPATCHING PROCEDURES
As of July 1, 2017, the following requirements are necessary to sign the out-of-work list in Local Union #230:
Book #1 – Plumber, Fitter, Welder Lists: P.I.P.E. Certification or UA Certification in the appropriate category and 3,000 hours or more of employment in the past three years for a signatory contractor working in Local #230’s jurisdiction.
Book #2 – Plumber, Fitter, Welder Lists: P.I.P.E. Certification or UA Certification in the appropriate category and 2,000 hours or more of employment in the past three years working for Contractors party to and under the terms of an agreement with District Council #16 Southern California and Oregon Pipe Trades agree to reciprocate to meet the terms of Section 5.1.6.
Book #3 – Plumber, Fitter, Welder Lists: All Journeymen who have worked 2,000 hours or more in the past three years for an employer signed to and doing work under an agreement with a United Association Local Union in the State of California.
Book #4 – Plumber, Fitter, Welder Lists: All Journeymen who have worked less that 2,000 hours for an employer signatory to an agreement with a United Association Local Union within the State of California or any other applicant who qualifies as a Journeyman and who registers for hiring in accordance with the terms of the Master Labor Agreement.
REFERRAL OF MANPOWER

- All calls for dispatching will be put on the recorder and website by 3:30 P.M. the day the dispatches are issued. This will include all Journeymen, Utility Fitters, Installation & Service Technicians and Service & Repair Trainees.

- Apprentices and Pre-Apprentices will be dispatched under the discretion of the Business Manager.

- Workmen traveling in for a Contractor for a specific job will be dispatched according to the Master Agreement.

- Emergency dispatching will be processed by telephone dispatching from the appropriate out-of-work list according to the order of sign-in date, and calls by name will not be honored for emergency work.

- Calls received for manpower one day will not be filled until the following morning, between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 11:30 A.M., and will be announced on the recorder (858/554-0590) and website.

- Sick List Exclusions: If a person is disabled and not eligible for work, he/she must present a Doctor’s excuse to Local 230’s office. The person is listed as sick and may remain on the out-of-work list. When a person can return to work, he/she must present a Doctor’s release to Local 230’s office. This person would be eligible for dispatch the following workday.
LOCAL 230 HIRING HALL OPERATIONS
When filling list calls, the Dispatcher will start with the first member present on the appropriate out-of-work list and continue through the list until all jobs are filled.
If multiple jobs are available in a certain category, the first person has preference; the second person has preference on the jobs remaining and so on until all jobs are filled.
- No specialties will be listed on the out of work lists.
- Journeymen members may refuse any jobs they desire without penalty.
- Members may retain their position on the out-of-work list in the following ways:
A) A member may take a short-term job (defined as a job lasting 14 calendar days or less) and upon receiving a Reduction in Force, may return to his/her original position on the out-of-work list, at the discretion of the Business Manager or his designee. If a member quits or is fired, he/she must sign the bottom of the out-of-work list.
B) On Referrals where there is project specific requirements including, but not limited to, security clearances, drug testing, weld tests, or brazing tests and you are unable to meet the requirement(s) disclosed at the time of dispatch you must sign the bottom of the out of work list upon returning to the local.
C) Any member receiving less than a full day’s pay shall retain his/her place on the out of work list, but he/she shall not be re-dispatched to the same Contractor or the same job if so requested by the Contractor in writing. When a member takes the second dispatch and goes to work and returns to the hall, he/she must sign the bottom of the out-of-work list.
Members are solely responsible as to determining their own qualifications in accepting a work order.
